Freezing to sub-freezing temperatures will be around Dallas-Fort Worth through the Christmas weekend, according to the National Weather Service. As the blast of Arctic air arrives this afternoon, 20 to 30 mph winds and 35 to 45 mph gusts are expected to arrive around 9 a.m. Thursday and continue through Thursday night. “It’s going to be coming in quick and hard,” Hunter Reeves, a spokesperson for the National Weather Service, told the Star-Telegram Wednesday.

These sub-freezing temperatures, the NWS warned, will damage any exposed pipes. “Make sure to follow the cold weather precautions and limit time spent outdoors,” the NWS website warned.
